2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the Nakba (“Catastrophe” in English), when over 750,000 Palestinians were violently forced from their homes upon the formation of the settler-colonial state of “Israel”. Today, there are close to five million Palestinian refugees who continue to demand their Right to Return to the homes and lands from which they were exiled.
To commemorate the Nakba, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR) and local partners are organizing a U.S. Nakba Day 75 tour, to take place from May 15th – May 20th, 2023, featuring honored guest Chief Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, elected member of the South African National Assembly representing the African National Congress – and grandson of the late Nelson Mandela – as the tour’s keynote speaker.
Mandela, also the tribal chief of the Mvezo Traditional Council, holds a degree and a post-graduate diploma in Political Science and International Studies from Rhodes University. Just like his grandfather, Chief Mandela is unabashed in his support for the Palestinian people, an advocate and fighter for justice for oppressed people across the world, and speaks regularly about Palestinian liberation and resistance to zionist settler-colonialism at conferences, rallies, and other events across the world.
Chief Mandela on the upcoming tour:
During Madiba’s visit to Gaza in 1995 he is on record as saying that “our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinian people.” It therefore comes as no surprise that the brutal Apartheid Israel regime is supported to the hilt by successive USA administration’s at great cost to USA taxpayers.
This speaking tour honours the memory of all Palestinians who suffered crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, and genocide as a result of the Nakba now in its 75th year. With more than 400 Palestinian villages massacred and destroyed, seven million refugees in the Palestinian diaspora denied the right of return, and thousands of political prisoners languishing in Apartheid Israel jails, it is time to hold those responsible to account.
We strongly recommend that you RSVP today using the links below as tickets are going fast. Simply select the ticket reservation link in your city and follow the instructions provided.
*Please note that admission to all the speaking tour events is free of charge. Instead, we are humbly asking if our communities would help us support this historic tour with a donation to help cover its costs. You can make this donation on the same page as the ticket reservations.*
